Volunteer Tax Prep Program – Go Direct and the Direct Express^® Debit MasterCard^®

The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service are working together to bring safer, easier payment options to low-income and elderly taxpayers who receive federal benefits, including direct deposit to a bank account and the new Direct Express prepaid debit card.

• IRS field staff and VITA coalitions: Safer, easier payments align with your asset-building objectives.
• Banks and credit unions: There’s a business and community relations case to participate in free tax preparation efforts.
• VITA and Tax Aide volunteers: Inform taxpayers about safer, easier ways to get their Social Security or VA Compensation and Pension payments.
