Go Direct Champions –

Register, Drive Results, Get Recognized

The Go Direct Champions program, now in its fourth year, is a national recognition program for financial institutions that achieve exceptional results in increasing the use of direct deposit among federal benefit check recipients. Open to financial institutions with 100 or more branches, the Go Direct Champions program measures your institution’s rate of growth of direct deposit numbers (or ACH credits) for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) over the program period. Top performers during the October 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010 timeframe will be awarded an official certificate and recognition from the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

  • Increase the use of direct deposit and deliver more to your bottom line
  • Compare your institution's performance in increasing the direct deposit of federal benefit payments with the results of your peers
  • Help simplify the lives of customers or members by helping them choose a safer, easier way to get their money

How to participate in Go Direct Champions

Step 1: Register by filling out and submitting the Go Direct Champions Registration Form by September 30.

Step 2: Announce your participation in the competition internally to branch managers and tellers, using the Go Direct Champions newsletter template.

Step 3: Encourage tellers to help customers or members cashing federal benefit checks to switch to direct deposit. Ensure you have an adequate quantity of Go Direct campaign materials for tellers and staff to use in their promotion of direct deposit.

How are results measured?

The Go Direct campaign will track your progress over the duration of the program – as the percentage change in Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) ACH payments – using your financial institution’s receiving routing numbers.

Participating financial institutions will be tiered according to their number of branches. The top three performers in each tier will receive an award and official recognition as Go Direct Champions by Treasury. Financial institutions that exceed the average growth rate in their peer group also will be recognized.
