October is National Crime Prevention Month

October is National Crime Prevention Month, the best time of the year to shine a spotlight on safety in your community and tell senior citizens, people with disabilities and others who receive federal benefit payments how to safeguard their money from check theft and fraud with direct deposit or the Direct Express® Debit MasterCard ® card.

Below are tools you can download to promote financial safety to members of your community.

For Community-Based Organizations:

  • Overview – Provides a short overview of easy ways to encourage the use of electronic payments for federal benefits.  
  • Talking points – Include these key messages in presentations, workshops or meetings.
  • Newsletter copy – Information suitable for an article highlighting the importance of getting federal benefit payments electronically.
  • PowerPoint slides – These informational slides provide the basics about direct deposit, the Go Direct campaign and the Direct Express® card and can be included in your organization’s existing presentations. 
  • Web site text – A brief message to include on your Web site about the benefits of electronic payments.
  • Safety-related statement message – A short message about financial safety to include in your monthly statements to customers or members, explaining how to sign up for direct deposit and the Direct Express® card.
